USF SOFTBALL: Corrick Named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week

A shutout performance in game one of the Jacksonville doubleheader earned the junior the honor

TAMPA, FLA. Feb. 22, 2021 – University of South Florida softball student-athlete Georgina Corrick was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) was the winning pitcher in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader against Jacksonville. She threw eight innings of shutout softball in the circle and only allowed four hits while striking out thirteen batters. The effort was her 20th career shutout and 53rd career victory.

The 13 strikeouts Corrick threw on the afternoon moved her up to fourth on USF’s all-time list with 573 strikeouts. She also ranks fifth in shutouts and sixth in victories. This week’s honor is Corrick’s 10th time being named AAC Pitcher of the Week in her career.

USF softball returns to the field on Saturday to begin a three-game series against Florida Atlantic. The team will play one game on Saturday followed by a doubleheader on Sunday. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+. Due to virus mitigation measures and the size of the venue, fan attendance will be via team pass list only at USF Softball Stadium.
