USF Softball: Corrick Named AAC Pitcher of the Week for Fourth Consecutive Week

The senior has won all four weekly honors given by the American Athletic Conference

TAMPA, March 7, 2022 – University of South Florida softball pitcher Georgina Corrick continues her sweep of the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors this season, earning all four awards that have been given.

Corrick had a monumental week in the circle, breaking multiple records while also tossing the fourth perfect game in program history. Overall, the Sanford, Fla., native finished the week with a 5-0 record while also tallying a save. All three of her complete games were shutout efforts and she also threw 48 strikeouts over 32.1 innings in the circle.

The Great Britain National Team member started the week off on Wednesday, tallying a shutout win over Florida Gulf Coast, her 38th such effort in her career which set a new all-time program record. She also struck out 19 batters over 11 innings, breaking the USF single-game record of 18 set by Erica Nunn and tied by Corrick in 2020.

After earning a win and a save on Friday, Corrick continued her success on Saturday, earning both wins while striking out 12. Her ninth strikeout of the day pushed her over the 1,000 career strikeouts threshold, becoming the second pitcher in program history to reach a career four-digit strikeout total. She now sits at 1,011, just 92 behind Sara Nevins for the most in program history.

Corrick wasn’t done yet. On Sunday, she threw five flawless innings to record the program’s fourth perfect game and the fourth of her career. Calling the game in conjunction with sophomore catcher Josie Foreman (West Palm Beach, Fla.), it also marked her seventh no-hitter (sixth solo).

Corrick now has a 0.0802 ERA, only allowing one earned run in 87.1 innings. She hasn’t allowed an earned run in 63.2 innings or a run in 57.2 innings.

Alexis Johns (Sarasota) was named to the weekly honor roll as well. She finished the week going 10-for-24 at the plate, posting a .417 batting average. She stole 10 bases over the seven games, while also scoring nine runs, tallying five walks and driving home three runs.
