Corrick and Johns also placed on the all-conference first team
GREENVILLE, N.C., May 11, 2022 – Georgina Corrick is now the only pitcher in American Athletic Conference history to win the AAC Pitcher of the Year award in all four of her full seasons, as the league announced its postseason awards on Wednesday afternoon.
Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) earned her second unanimous selection for the award, which is voted on by the league’s coaches. She was previously a unanimous winner in 2021 while also earning the title in 2018 and 2019.
Corrick and Alexis Johns (Sarasota, Fla.), the country’s leading base-stealer, were also voted to the AAC All-Conference First Team.
A two-time All-American entering this season, Corrick reached new heights this season. Through 118 innings this season, she had a 0.06 ERA and recorded a streak of 88.1 innings without allowing a run. Through the end of the regular season, Corrick has now amassed a 34-5 record with 19 shutouts, 394 strikeouts and a 0.44 ERA in 255 innings in the circle. She’s tossed two perfect games and a no-hitter this season, bringing her career no-hitter total to nine (eight solo).
“To be named First Team All-Conference again and to be named as the American Athletic Conferences Pitcher of the Year for the fourth year in a row says just about all you can say about Georgina’s impact in our conference games,” head coach Ken Eriksen said. “This unprecedented achievement will be hard to match and I hope people appreciate the magnitude of what she has accomplished while being one of the greatest student-athletes to play at USF.”
In conference play, Corrick continued her dominance. Posting the most strikeouts in a single season against league opponents in AAC history with 146, Corrick finished with an 11-3 record and a 0.97 ERA. She led the AAC in wins, innings (94.0), strikeouts and starts (14), while also holding opposing hitters to a .134 average.
The Great Britain National Team member leads the country in innings pitched, strikeouts, shutouts and wins. She’s also second in the nation in strikeouts-to-walk ratio (13.59), third in ERA, third in hits allowed per seven innings (2.80) and eighth in walks allowed per seven innings (0.80).

Johns earned her second AAC all-conference selection and first selection to the first team with this year’s honor. The nation’s most prolific base-stealer has swiped 54 bases in 54 games this season, setting new USF and AAC season records in the process, passing AnaMarie Bruni’s 38 and UCF’s Kahley Novak’s 43, respectively. Her 20 swipes in conference play are also a new record, passing Bruni’s 14 last season.
“Alexis Johns has been our go to person for energy all year whether it’s leading off a game, stealing a base, or driving in the winning run,” Eriksen said. “Being named to the first team all-conference is a by-product of her dedication to competing every day. Besides the fact of buying into our offensive game plan, she has endeared herself to our program by being an incredible teammate.”
At the plate, Johns has also been successful. Hitting with a .353/.443/.410 slash, the Sarasota native leads the team in hits (55), runs (50), stolen bases, average, triples (3), total bases (64) and walks (27).
In conference play, Johns has hit .327 with 19 runs and 20 stolen bases with a triple.
South Florida begins play as the three seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday at 5 p.m. The Bulls will battle host and sixth seed ECU.
