USF Non-Conference Schedule Packed with Power House Opponents

USF to face three opponents ranked No. 1 in the 2019 NCAA Women’s Basketball tournament: Notre Dame, Mississippi State, and reigning national champion, Baylor

TAMPA, JUNE 14, 2019 – Head women’s basketball coach Jose Fernandez released the complete 2019-20 non-conference schedule on Friday, which includes a road trip to take on the reigning national champion, Baylor.

Looking to extend its postseason streak to nine straight years, USF will take on six NCAA tournament teams, including three 2019 NCAA Tournament No. 1 seeds, the reigning national champion and the national runner-up. The Bulls will take on a 14-game non-conference slate that features eight home games, five neutral site games in holiday tournaments, and one road game.

USF will open the schedule with Jacksonville on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in its first game at the Yuengling Center. Shortly after, the Bulls welcome Big 12 foe Texas to town on Nov. 8 for the Longhorns’ first ever visit to Tampa. For their first road game, the Bulls will travel to Waco, Texas to face reigning national champion Baylor on Nov. 19. This will be the third time in program history the Bulls will face the Bears, and second time in Texas, last seeing them in the Preseason WNIT in 2015.

On Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28), South Florida will face NCAA tournament qualifier South Dakota State and the Bulls will take on in-state foe and NCAA tournament team Florida Gulf Coast the following day. USF will round out the Cancun Challenge (Nov. 30) by taking on Notre Dame, their second opponent to earn a No. 1 seed in the 2019 NCAA Tournament and national runner-up.

USF will return home to Tampa to host Alabama State on Dec. 6, before facing WNIT qualifier Idaho on Dec. 15. Days later, USF will make the trek to the Pacific time zone to participate in the Duel in the Desert tournament in Las Vegas. The Bulls open the event against Mississippi State, the third 2019 No. 1 seed on the schedule. USF will play its final game of the tournament on Dec. 21 against either UNLV or Virginia, depending on the outcome of the first round games.

The Bulls wrap up their non-conference schedule and 2019 with a Dec. 30 home game against Ivy League opponent, Brown.
