USF MGolf: Bulls Welcome SoCon Freshman of the Year Peacock to Roster

Coming off 4th NCAA Championship appearance, Bulls add third standout to roster

TAMPA, JUNE 24, 2022 – Having logged the program’s ninth straight NCAA Regional appearance and fourth NCAA Championship appearance, head coach Steve Bradley has welcomed another standout player to the USF men’s golf roster as Jake Peacock, the 2022 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year, has joined the Bulls.

Peacock is transferring to USF from Western Carolina where he led the Catamounts in stroke average (72.03) over all 12 team events and 34 rounds as he posted the fifth-best stroke average in program history. The 2022 All-Southern Conference selection tallied a team-best 18 rounds of par or better, shooting eight rounds in the 60s, and was ranked ninth in the SoCon in scoring average after leading the team in 10 of their 12 events. He claimed medalist honors in his collegiate debut at the EKU Intercollegiate, matching the school record 54-hole score with a 10-under par 200 (67, 67, 66). He posted four top-10 showings overall.

“Jake had a very strong first year in collegiate golf, earning SoCon Freshman of the Year honors, and we are thrilled he is joining our team to continue his career as a Bull in the American Athletic Conference,” Bradley said. “He had a very strong high school and junior golf career as well and we look forward to his continued growth and success in our program.”

Peacock was ranked sixth in the class of 2021 by JGS and 14th overall in junior golf. He posted a five-stroke victory at the 2021 Gator Invitational and finished sixth at 2020 Georgia Amateur. Peacock earned 2021 Georgia Class AAAAAA All-State selection, finished third at the 2021 Dye Junior Cup, and won low medal honors in guiding Cambridge HS to a team championship at the Achasta High School Invitational in March of 2021.

Peacock joins Swedish National Team standout Nino Palmquist (Halmstad, Sweden), ranked No. 3 in the Swedish Under-18 Golf Rankings, and St. Augustine native Campbell Kennedy, a Florida Junior Tour (FJT) standout ranked No. 61 on the Rolex AJGA standings, in the Bulls’ Class of 2022.
