TAMPA, Fla. (October 26, 2023) – The University of South Florida men’s soccer (5-7-1, 2-3-1) heads to Tennessee for a clash with Memphis (8-3-2, 3-3) on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET and the contest will stream live on ESPN+.

SETTING THE STAGE

South Florida is looking for back-to-back conference wins for the first time this season. Jalen Anderson leads the Bulls with six goals on the season, accompanied by Ajmeer Spengler, who has six assists. Memphis is on the hunt for their fifth straight victory and fourth consecutive conference win.

SOUTH FLORIDA-MEMPHIS SERIES

USF has won 18 of 28 all-time meetings against Memphis, which extends back to the 1984 season. The Bulls are looking to win their sixth win in Memphis territory. In the last meeting, South Florida defeated Memphis, 2-0 at home (Oct. 28, 2022), the first shutout since 2018 against the Tigers.

LAST TIME OUT

Spengler led South Florida over UAB on Saturday (Oct. 21), 2-1 at home. Spengler got the scoring kicked off on a long-range floater early in the opening half of the contest, assisted by Jalen Anderson, a play that would be #2 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays that evening. The Blazers would respond moments later with a goal of their own by Gustavo Barbosa, knotting things up heading into the break. In the closing stages of the contest, Spengler would double up on the night grabbing another highlight shot on the night, assisted by Takeru Moriyama, pulling the Bulls ahead and sealing the victory.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos leads Memphis with nine goals on the season, accompanied by Elie Bokota who leads the team with four assists. Colin Welsh has started in eight games between the posts for Memphis, only allowing 1.02 goals on average this season.

A LOOK AHEAD

South Florida returns to Corbett Stadium for its last home contest of the regular season against FAU on Wednesday (Nov. 1). Match festivities include a senior night celebration. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game can be streamed live on ESPN+.

Alumni Jeff Attinella has been selected as a member of the 2023 USF Athletics Hall of Fame Class and will be inducted on Thurs., Nov. 9.
