No. 21-Ranked Men’s Golf Finishes 5th at White Sands Bahamas Invitational
Albin Bergstrom finishes third as Bulls wrap up fall slate
TAMPA, Oct. 31, 2021 – The No. 21-ranked USF men’s golf team posted a fifth-place team finish Sunday in the White Sands Bahamas Invitational on Paradise Island, Bahamas to wrap up their fall schedule.
It marked USF’s third top five team finish in four fall events. The Bulls battled the par 72, 7,159-yard Ocean Club Golf Course and a 12-team field, posting a closing round 281 after scores of 283 and 288 in the first two rounds for a 54-hole total of -12, 852, which was one stroke out of third place.
Ole Miss won the tournament posting rounds of 283, 276 and 279 for a -26 score of 838. They were followed by No. 24 East Tennessee State (-15), No. 28 San Francisco (-13), Little Rock (-13) and USF (-12).
Junior Albin Bergstrom (Falsterbo, Sweden) shot a final round of 4-under-par 68 to finish third with a 54-hole total of -9, 207. Bergstrom posted rounds of 67, 72 and 68 in the tournament that was won by Ole Miss’ Jackson Suber at -11, 205.
Sophomore Run Youprayong (Bangkok, Thailand) shot rounds of 71, 72, and 73 for a final round total of even par, 216 good for a tie for 23rd. Juniors Luke Gifford (Boca Raton) and Ian Peng (Chang Hua, Taiwan), finished T29 with a score of +1, 217 while sophomore Sam Nicholson (Atlantic Beach) shot +4, 220 to finish T41.
UP NEXT
The Bulls wrapped up their fall schedule and don’t return to action until Feb. 6-7 at the Georgia Southern Individual Collegiate in Statesboro, Ga.
