USF Gets Third Win of the Season with 3-1 Victory at Lipscomb

Emilio Ycaza nets back-to-back goals within 25 seconds of each other to secure the win.

TAMPA (Sept. 13, 2019) – In a town known for its country music the USF men’s soccer team had host Lipscomb singing the blues on Friday night as the Bulls handed the Bisons a 3-1 loss at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex in Nashville, Tenn. USF improves to 3-1 on the year and is off to its best start since the 2012 season when it also started the season with the same record. Lipscomb drops to 1-3-1 on the year.

Emilio Ycaza (St. Petersburg, Fla) put the match out of reach with back-to-back goals within 25 seconds of each other in the 55’ minute. It was the first multi-goal match of his collegiate career. His first goal of the night, the eventual game-winner, came off a pass from Trey Jackson (Ocala, Fla.) while his second score was served up by fellow St. Petersburg resident Stephen Rudderham.

Jonathan Rosales (Kissimmee, Fla.) got the scoring started with his first goal of the season when he took a pass from Avionne Flanagan (Baltimore, Md.) and beat Lipscomb goalkeeper Michael Sibley in the 35’ minute of play.

The Bulls led 3-0 before the Bisons finally broke through in the 73’ minute, on a goal by Killian Byrne, but it would be too little too late for Lipscomb.
