USF Falls to Temple in Philadelphia, 3-1

TAMPA (Oct. 18, 2019) – The University of South Florida men’s soccer team nearly outshot Temple two-to-one on the night, and held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal, however, the Owls led in the one category that mattered as Temple handed the Bulls a 3-1 loss in Philadelphia on Friday night. USF drops to 8-4* on the year and 2-2* in conference play.  The Owls improve to 5-6-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the AAC.   Esteban Suarez got the scoring started, getting the Owls on the board first, converting off a corner kick in the 32nd minute to give Temple a 1-0 lead, a margin that would hold as both teams entered the intermission.  The Owls came out in the second stanza and took a 2-0 lead in the 61st minute of play, when Sean Karanin recorded the first of his two goals on the night. USF’s Emilio Ycaza (St. Petersburg, Fla.), however, cut the Temple advantage to one, 2-1, finding the back of the net off a corner nine minutes later. The Bulls kept pushing, looking to get the equalizer, however, could not convert. Karani would record an insurance goal, for the final margin, in the 86th minute. On the night, the Bulls outshot Temple, 14-8, with six of the 14 shots coming from Henrique Gallina (Atibaia, Brazil Brazil) and Josue Monge (Philadelphia, Pa.) who had three apiece. Cooper Blay (Gainesville, Fla.) got his second career start – in his second career match – and turned in one save in 90 minutes of play
