USF Closes Homestand With AAC Opener Against No. 9 Tulsa on Saturday at Noon

The Golden Hurricane will mark the second Top 10 foe for the Bulls in the last three matches.

TAMPA (Sept. 17, 2021) – The University of South Florida men’s soccer team closes out what was supposed to be a three-match homestand, Saturday against Tulsa in The American opener for both schools.  Kickoff is slated for noon and the match is free to attend. The Bulls were originally scheduled to face North Florida on Sept. 14; however, the match was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols within the UNF program.

Saturday’s tilt with the Golden Hurricane will be USF’s second against a member of the Top 10 in its last three outings.  Tulsa comes in No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, and No. 9 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll. The Bulls recently faced No. 4/6 Clemson on Sept. 6 (L, 3-0). In addition, following Saturday’s match, the Bulls’ next contest will come at No. 18/13 SMU on Sept. 24.

– Tulsa is coming off a 5-1 win over Michigan State on Saturday night, marking their 100th win at the Hurricane Stadium.

– The Golden Hurricane opened the scoring just three minutes in, and scored three more goals before the end of the first half … Tulsa held the advantage in shots, 15-8, and 8-4 shots on goal.

– Following Saturday’s match against Tulsa, the Bulls travel to the Lone Star state to face SMU in Dallas, on Friday, Sept. 24 … Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET.

– USF will return to Corbett Stadium for the first edition of the War on I-4 against UCF, on Sept. 28, at 7 p.m.

– The Bulls will face Tulsa again on Oct. 3, at 8 p.m. ET.

CORBETT ATTENDANCE POLICY

– For the first time since Nov. 9, 2019, Corbett Stadium will return to full-capacity seating for fans, a stretch of 647-days entering USF’s season-opening match against Jacksonville on Aug. 26.

USF Men’s Soccer competed in the school’s first ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3.
