The Bulls will play 31 home games in 2020.
TAMPA (Dec. 17, 2019) – Third-year head coach Billy Mohl and the USF baseball team finalized their 2020 schedule on Tuesday with the announcement of the 54-game slate.
“We are looking forward to a challenging 2020 schedule, which has many regional teams from a year ago, including a trip to Gainesville to play the University of Florida for a three-game series,” Mohl said. “Our early schedule will allow us to prepare for the grind of American Athletic Conference play beginning in late March.”
The Bulls will face the likes of three ACC opponents, along with three from the ASUN, two from the MAAC, two from the MEAC, and one Big Ten school during the 2020 season. USF will play at home for 31 games while competing on the road 23 times this season. It all starts at home against unfamiliar opponent Marist College, Feb. 14-16. The meeting between the two programs will mark the first matchup in both schools’ history.
Following opening weekend, the Bulls will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for midweek nonconference action against Florida A&M (Feb. 17) and Florida State (Feb. 18).
The Bulls will return home when Northeastern comes to Tampa for the first time in program history for a three-game nonconference series Feb. 22-23. USF will head back on the road to play Miami in a nonconference showdown, on Feb. 26.
USF will come back to Tampa to face nonconference opponent Northwestern for the 10th time in program history, Feb. 28-March 1. USF currently leads the all-time series, 7-2.
After a week off, USF will travel to Gainesville for a three-game series with Florida on March 6-8. Last season, the Bulls were able to upset the No. 5 Gators at home, 6-1. The Gators split the two meetings between the programs, taking the second matchup, 7-3.
USF has a stack of midweek games in Tampa, where it will host familiar foes in Pittsburgh, Florida A&M, Stetson, and North Florida. The 22nd match between Pittsburg and USF is scheduled for Tuesday March 3. Florida A&M will face the Bulls for the second time of the season Wednesday, March 4.
Fairfield will come to Tampa for the last nonconference series before USF heads into conference action. The series will mark the 10th meeting between the two programs, with USF leading the series, 5-4. Following its series with Fairfield, USF will head to Daytona Beach, Fla., for a nonconference midweek matchup at Bethune-
Cookman, on March 17.
American Athletic Conference play opens at home for the Bulls, with Memphis visiting Tampa March 20-22. Mixed between their conference series is a midweek nonconference battle at Stetson, on March 24. The Bulls will then fly out to Texas to take on Houston, March 27-29. USF heads back to Tampa to close out the month of March, playing host nonconference opponent North Florida on the 31st.
USF will kick off the month of April, when UConn comes to Tampa for the 63rd time in program history, April 3-5. Mixed in with conference play is the second midweek matchup between Stetson and USF in DeLand, Fla. April 7. The Bulls will continue their road trip at Cincinnati to resume conference play, April 9-11. USF will fly back to Florida to wrap up its midweek nonconference series at North Florida, April 15.
USF returns home to host Tulane for a conference series, April 17-19. The Bulls will wrap up the home portion of their midweek nonconference schedule against Bethune-Cookman on April 21. Following their nonconference matchup, the Bulls will fly to Kansas, for a conference series at Wichita State, April 24-26. USF will then travel to Fort Myers to play Florida Gulf Coast to close out the month of April on the 28th.
USF’s War on I-4 battles against rival UCF will take place at the USF Baseball Stadium May 1-3. The Bulls will head back to Fort Myers for the second time this season to play Florida Gulf Coast on May 8. Immediately following their Friday nonconference matchup in Fort Myers, the Bulls will host Florida Gulf Coast for their final home games of the season, May 9-10. Wrapping up the regular season, USF will make final road trip to Greenville, N.C., to play East Carolina, May 14-16.

About USF Baseball
The University of South Florida baseball program is one of the fastest rising programs in the country. The Bulls earned their third NCAA Regional berth in the last four seasons and had six all-conference selections in 2018. Four players were selected in the 2018 MLB Draft, including the program’s fourth first rounder, pitcher Shane McClanahan. Third baseman David Villar was taken in the 11th round after being named first team all-conference and an All-American. The Bulls reached the NCAA Regionals in 2015 for the first time in 13 years and followed that success with a 42-19 record and second NCAA regional trip in three years in 2017. The Bulls continued the success in head coach Billy Mohl first season in 2018, reaching 36 wins and advancing to the semifinals of the conference tournament for the first time since 2012, while being ranked in multiple polls for the final two months of the season. The USF Baseball program has won five conference titles and the Bulls have made 13 NCAA appearances.
