3.31 Department Spring Term GPA marks second-highest on record;
341 student-athletes (76%) post Term GPA over 3.0;
TAMPA, MAY 23, 2024 – University of South Florida Athletics saw all 18 men’s and women’s programs post a spring term grade-point average over 3.0 for just the second time on record as the Bulls extended their record streak of an overall department GPA over 3.0 to 19 consecutive semesters and nine years (since the spring of 2015) after the recently completed 2023 spring term.
Building on a 3.30 department GPA in the fall, USF student-athletes posted a 3.31 overall GPA in the spring term, the second highest term GPA on record behind only a 3.41 posted in the spring term of 2020 under unique circumstances due to the impacts of COVID-19. The spring of 2020 also marked the only other time that all programs earned over a 3.0 term GPA.
“What an impressive achievement by our student-athletes to have all 18 programs record over a 3.0!” Vice President for Athletics Michael Kelly said. “I am so proud of the commitment and hard work our student-athletes continue to deliver in achieving at a very high level in the classroom. It also speaks to the tremendous support and mentorship provided by our outstanding academics staff and the commitment and culture of each of our coaches and programs to seeing USF student-athletes graduate and be prepared for a fulfilling career after they are done competing in the Green and Gold.”
