USF women’s basketball signed Croatian guard Lazic to National Letter of Intent

TAMPA, MAY 29, 2019 – Head coach Jose Fernandez and USF women’s basketball have signed Mihaela Lazic, a guard out of Slavonski Brod, Croatia, to a National Letter of Intent.

The 5-foot-6 guard is an experienced international player, having played in the FIBA 2017 and 2018 European Championships. In 2018, she averaged 7.9 points per game, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists over seven games. She posted double-figure scoring outings four times and four or more assists on three occasions. In 2017 at the European Championship, she posted 8.1 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game.

“Lazic is a dynamic guard that will give us depth in multiple positions and allow us to continue our tradition of outstanding guard play,” Fernandez said.

Lazic joins a stacked recruiting class that Fernandez will bring to Tampa in 2019. The incoming class will consist of freshmen Kristyna Brabencova (Brno, Czech Republic), and Maria Alvarez (Bal Harbour, Fla.), while junior college transfer Bethy Mununga (Belgium) will join the Bulls as a junior.
