USF 4×100 & 4×400 Relays Advance to NCAA Championships

The Bulls set school records in both relay events en route to punching their tickets to Eugene

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., MAY 29, 2021 – It was a big day in northern Florida for the USF women’s relay teams on Saturday as the women’s 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams set school records at the NCAA East Regional Prelims in Jacksonville, en route to punching their tickets to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 9-12.

The relay teams will join Duncan Agyemang (Kumasi, Ghana), who qualified in the 400M hurdles yesterday, Shaniya Benjamin (Tampa, Fla.), who finished in the top 12 in the long jump on Thursday, andpole vaulter Stone Baker (New Port Richey, Fla.), who advanced on Wednesday to the championships.   

The 4×100 team, consisting of Zahira Allers-Liburd (Miami, Fla.)BenjaminGabrielle DesRosiers (Chicago, Ill.), and Kadesha Prescott (Port of Spain, Trinidad), posted a school-best 43.95, good enough to place eighth in the regional quarterfinals and advance to the championships.

In the 4×400 event, the quartet of DesRosiers, BenjaminPatricija Roshofa (Limbazi, Latvia)Jasmine Knowles (Nassau, Bahamas) set a new school mark in a time of 3:34.07, to finish 11th and claim one of the 12 spots to Eugene from the East Region.

The USF track and field team has produced 22 All-America selections since 2008 and at least one All-American in nine of the last 11 years. 2016 graduate Matthew O’Neal is USF’s first six-time NCAA All-American.
