Upcoming Events in Coral Springs and Oakland Park offers Holiday Village

Committed to providing residents with a multitude of family-friendly events throughout the year, the City of Coral Springs is excited to announce its latest partnership with the Florida Panthers IceDen.

Of the partnership to increase and enhance events, City Manager Frank Babinec explains, “Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the city entered into an agreement with the Florida Panthers IceDen, which is located on city property, for facility improvements and an enhanced private-public partnership to allow residents greater use of the facility. Hosting free, family-friendly events is key to our mission of being the premier community in which to live, work and raise a family. I am excited these plans are finally being realized.”

Events on the horizon at the Florida Panthers IceDen include:

An evening for the entire family to enjoy laser tag, while ice skating! The event will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, and Wednesday, March 23, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase. Registration is required.

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, residents can celebrate Mardi Gras from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There will be fun for the entire family, including a live band, New Orleans-inspired food, treats, beads, and free ice-skating.

In celebration of the city’s 59th birthday, residents are invited to enjoy an afternoon of food trucks, ice skating on Sunday, July 10, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Families are invited to enjoy an evening of free ice skating on Friday, June 10, 2022, and Friday, August 12, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase. 


City of Oakland Park offers Holiday Village

The City of Oakland Park is offering the Holiday Village on Friday, Dec. 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 4, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The free, family-friendly event will take place at Jaco Pastorius Park, which is located at 4000 North Dixie Highway. City Commissioners will help Santa Claus light up a magical 40-foot Christmas Tree at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the park’s Grand Fountain Plaza. Holiday Village will feature live entertainment, a Christmas tree decorating competition, visits from Santa, the Holiday Village Carousel, the Oakland Park Holiday Village Snow Slide, Artisan & Craft vendors, and a food court.

You can learn about municipal government and City of Oakland Park operations at the Local Government Academy (LGA). Help build a sense of community by learning about various city functions alongside your fellow Oakland Park residents and gaining skills to become an effective leader in your neighborhood. The LGA is a free, ten-week program that will take place on Thursdays, from Jan. 13 to March 17, 2022, from 6 – 9 p.m. Course topics will include the history of Oakland Park and introductions to City Departments and Charter Offices including the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Fire Rescue, Public Works, and more. Courses will be in-person and socially distanced. Past graduates of the LGA include all five City Commissioners and several past mayors.
