GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida women’s tennis is set for their second-straight top-20 matchup when Intercollegiate Tennis Association No. 17, Old Dominion, comes to town for a 5 p.m. ET showdown on Thursday evening.

The Gators (4-0, 0-0 SEC) are coming off of a strong weekend of competition at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Competing at the Florida State regional, the Orange & Blue defeated Florida International, 4-1, before taking down host and No. 18 Florida State, 4-0.

The doubles squad of Alicia Dudeney and Bente Spee continued to roll, picking up a pair of victories to stay perfect on the season, including the doubles point clincher against Florida State, 7-5. In singles competition, Emma Shelton was also impressive over the weekend, pushing her dual singles record to 4-0 on the year after securing the match clinching point over Florida State’s Anna Arkadianou: 6-3, 6-2.

Their victory secured a spot at the Indoor National Championships in Madison, Wis., from Friday, Feb. 11-Monday, Feb. 14. The Gators’ appearance at the championships will mark their first since the 2018 campaign, just a year after they claimed the 2017 title.

Old Dominion enters Thursday’s matchup also boasting a perfect record at 3-0, punching their ticket to the Indoor National Championships after defeating No. 12 Georgia Tech and Ole Miss during ITA Kickoff Weekend. The meeting between the Monarchs and Gators will be the first in school history.
