UF WTN: Gators Leave Mizzou Scoreless in Columbia

The Gators are now on a five-match win streak after defeating the Tigers 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in Columbia.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 12 Florida Gators finished the weekend undefeated after posting a 4-0 win at Missouri. Florida now holds a 10-7 record and is 6-2 in SEC play.

The first win of the afternoon came from doubles pair Bente Spee<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/bente-spee/16144> and Rachel Gailis<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/rachel-gailis/16143> defeating Andrea Artimedi and Sophia McLellan 6-1. Florida’s number one doubles team, Alicia Dudeney<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/alicia-dudeney/16142> and Malwina Rowinska<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/malwina-rowinska/16397> posted the second doubles victory 6-4 over No. 53 Inah Canete and Mae Canete, clinching the doubles point for the Gators.

Carly Briggs<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/carly-briggs/16139> and Qavia Lopez<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/qavia-lopez/16283> held a 6-5 advantage over Roma Cardenas Rifka and Gabriela Martinez before Florida claimed the 1-0 advantage over the Tigers to close out doubles play.

Florida’s freshman Malwina Rowinska<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/malwina-rowinska/16397> and No. 109 Qavia Lopez<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/qavia-lopez/16283> played a vital role in the Gators’ road victory, tallying two of three singles points. Rowinska was first to close out in a straight set win over Roma Cardenas Rifka 6-4, 6-0. The initial set was competitive as Rowinska found her grounding, but after claiming the first set 6-4, she kept with what was working and dominated 6-0 in the second.

Lopez also secured a two-set win defeating Missouri’s Gabriela Martinez. Lopez set the tone early on court three with a 6-0 first set win but Martinez rallied back to challenge Lopez in the second. The two went back and forth before Lopez closed out 6-4 to record her sixth SEC singles win and clinch the fourth and final point for the Gators.

No. 15 Rachel Gailis<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/rachel-gailis/16143> also made a mark in Columbia, defeating Mae Canete 6-2, 6-2 on court one. Gailis had another steady performance for the Gators and tallied her twelfth singles win seventh SEC win of the season.

After Florida secured four matches against Mizzou, Carly Briggs<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/carly-briggs/16139> on court two and Bente Spee<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-tennis/roster/bente-spee/16144> on court five were left unfinished. Briggs lost 7-5 in the first set to Inah Canete and was trailing 2-1 in the second. Spee was also down a set, falling 6-4 in the first to Andrea Artimedi. Spee also faced adversity in the second set and was behind 5-2 before the SEC contest finished out.
