Three event wins and four B-cut times produced by Porter last week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida’s Cecilia Porter was named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
This is Porter’s second Freshman of the Week honor from the SEC, winning it previously on Nov. 10 after a meet with Miami.
Porter won three events last week, one at home against UNF on Wednesday and two at Auburn on Saturday.
The Signal Mountain, Tenn., native won the 200-yard medley relay at both meets with times of 1:38.3 and 1:38.8, while also taking the 100-yard breaststroke at Auburn with a time of 1:00.19.
Additionally, Porter finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke against UNF with a time of 1:00.73 and produced four B-cut times between the two meets.
Porter has been a dominant force early on in her career, already holding the UF record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.22.
