The redshirt senior will join the Gators golf team for her final season of eligibility.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Redshirt senior Marta Perez will return for her final season of eligibility with the Florida women’s golf team. This decision comes on the heels of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Council’s ruling that extended eligibility for student-athletes impacted by COVID-19.
Back in March, the Division I Council voted to allow schools to provide an additional season of competition to spring-sport student-athletes whose seasons were cut short due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With this decision, schools are able to self-apply waivers to restore one of the four seasons of eligibility granted to student-athletes who were competing when the spring 2020 season was shortened.
Perez will return to the Gators roster with an already complete collegiate career.
Coming off of a season that boasted three top 10 finishes and a SEC Player of the Week honor following her second-place finish at the Gators Invitational, the Valencia, Spain native is poised to offer stability and experience to the Florida lineup.
During the course of her Florida career, Perez has been named to the All-SEC Second Team following both her sophomore and junior campaigns, as well as the 2017 SEC All-Freshman Team after finishing the SEC Championships tied for 42nd.
