UF WGOLF | Freshmen Lead Gators at Briar’s Creek Invitational

Inès Archer (T4) and Paula Francisco (T13) led the Gators with both inside the top-13 through 36-holes.

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – Florida women’s golf freshmen Inès Archer and Paula Francisco led the Gators in day one of the Briar’s Creek Invitational on Monday.

Through 36-holes Florida is in 5th at 7-over with Michigan State leading the field at 10-under followed by Illinois at 4-under. Two shots separate the Gators and the next two teams in Rutgers (+5) and UCF (+6)

The Gator freshmen duo are both in the top-13 with Archer sitting in T4. The native of Rennes, France, tied her season-best with two rounds of 70 (-2) and is 4-under overall. Her second low round was bogey-free and only has one bogey to her name, which came on the final hole in the opening round. Archer has made 30 pars and five birdies.

Francisco is tied for 13th and got back to even par for the tournament behind her second round of 71 (-1). After a bogey on her second hole in the second set of 18 holes, the freshman had a stretch of 3-under bogey-free for the next 15 holes. She is averaging 2.88 on par3s at Briar’s Creek Golf Club.

Maisie Filler and Sarunchana Rattanasin, who is competing as an individual, are tied for 45th A stroke back of them are Jackie Lucena in T51 followed by Sophie Stevens at T81.

The final round is set for a shotgun start tomorrow at 8:45 a.m.
