UF WGOLF | Florida, Filler Finish Third at Gators Invitational

Maisie Filler led the Gators with a T3 finish and shot a final round of 66 (-4).

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida women’s golf team and Maisie Filler both finished third at the Gators Invitational on Saturday.

The No. 10 Gators shot a 54-hole team score of 852 (+12) and completed the end of round two and all of round three today after play was suspended due to darkness yesterday. Play was suspended again late into the final round due to lighting and play was halted for three-plus hours. Florida recorded its fifth top-3 finish of the season and has placed top-7 in all seven tournaments.

Arizona (-8) won the 52nd edition of the tournament as its victory is third all-time at the Gators Invitational and snapped an eight-consecutive year win streak by Florida at its home event.

Filler led UF with a T3 finish. It marked her team-leading fifth top-10 of the season and fifth consecutive top-10. She has finished 1st-3rd to start the spring in stroke play events and owns a 3-0 match play record. The No. 1 player in the country shot a final round of 66 (-4) for her team-high 11th under par round and a tournament score of 207 (-3).

Four Gator golfers played in their first home tournament of their careers with freshman Paula Francisco recording a T8 outing. She ended even overall with all three rounds of 70 (E).

Fifth-year Jackie Lucena finished a shot outside the top-25 in T28 followed by Sarunchana Rattanasin (T30), Taylor Roberts (T34), Inès Archer (T43), Sophie Stevens (T48), and Marina Escobar (54th)

The Gators begin to wrap up the regular season with the Briar’s Creek Invitational (March 11-12) and the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic (March 29-30).
