UF WGOLF | Final Round of Liz Murphey Canceled, Gators Finish Third

Florida completes the regular season and begins the SEC Championship on April 12.

ATHENS, Ga. – The final round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic was canceled on Sunday due to weather, resulting in the Florida women’s golf team finishing third. The Gators placed top-5 in four out of five regular season spring tournaments.

The tournament was the regular season finale for the Gators, who will begin the SEC Championship on April 12 at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. Last season Florida finished runner-up after making it to the match play finals for the first time in program history.

Maisie Filler took 3rd with two under par rounds (71 & 70) for her third top-10 finish of the season. Set to compete in the ANWA next week, she tied for the team-high third tournament under par. Yesterday, after +2 on through the first five holes, she responded with a nine-hole stretch of birdie-par-par-par-birdie-birdie-birdie-birdie. Her fourth consecutive on 14 (par-4, 363) pushed her out to the solo lead. The junior finished second among the field with 10 birdies.

Senior Annabell Fuller recorded her team-leading seventh top-25 finish, ending T18. She notched her team-high 10th low round to start the tournament on Friday.

Right outside the top-25 was Marina Escobar in T31 followed by Jackie Lucena in T42 and Karoline Tuttle T52.
