UF WGOLF | Filler, Gators in Third After 36 Holes in Athens

Maisie Filler is 3-under and two shots off the lead at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic.

ATHENS, Ga. – Maisie Filler and the Florida women’s golf team are both tied for third after 36 holes at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Saturday.

Filler recorded her second straight round (70, -2) under par for her ninth of the season, second most on the team. After +2 on through the first five holes, she responded with a nine-hole stretch of birdie-par-par-par-birdie-birdie-birdie-birdie. Her fourth consecutive on 14 (par-4, 363) pushed her out to the solo lead. The junior is two strokes back from the lead in a tie for 3rd.

Marina Escobar (T31) bounced back in round two with a 71 (-1), cutting six shots off yesterday’s first round. She erased a bumpy start that featured two bogeys in the first four holes with four birdies and 2-under on the back nine.

Two shots ahead of Escobar is Annabell Fuller in T18. The rest of the lineup features Jackie Lucena in T42 and Karoline Tuttle T52.

Florida wraps up the final regular season tournament tomorrow at 9:59 a.m.
