UF WGOLF: Baggarly Ready to Tackle U.S. Women’s Open at The Olympic Club

The senior will take the course in her first professional event at 5:20 p.m. ET.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Senior Addie Baggarly is set to compete in the U.S. Women’s Open, scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 3 and continue through Sunday, June 6 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, California.

Baggarly entered the tournament as the first alternate from the Oceanside Country Club qualifier in Ormond Beach, Fla. that took place on April, 26, 2021. She learned that she was officially invited to compete in the U.S. Women’s Open on May 20.

The senior posted a 73.52 stroke average through 21 rounds of competition during the 2020-21 season, finishing in the top 25 twice.

Baggarly inked her name in the Gators record book as the first women’s golfer in program history to be selected to the Arnold Palmer Cup United States team back in 2020. She has earned multiple league honors in her time at Florida, including being named to the 2018 All-Freshman Team and the 2020 All-SEC Second Team.

The U.S. Women’s open is one of nine national golf championships hosted by the United States Golf Association. It is the oldest of the LPGA’s five major championships and is the second major of the season. Established in 1946, the U.S. Women’s Open is the only event that has been recognized as a major by the LPGA since the association was founded in 1950.

This marks Baggarly’s first start in any professional tournament.
