Archer and Francisco Tied for Fourth, Gators in Third
Freshman Inès Archer shot a round two of 67 (-5) for a new career-low at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic.
ATHENS, Ga. – The Florida women’s golf team was led by a pair of freshmen in Inès Archer and Paula Francisco, who are tied for fourth with the Gators sitting in third through two rounds of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Friday.
In the final regular season tournament, Florida is in third at 8-over as host Georgia (+3) is in second followed by leader Auburn (-3). The Gators used a team round two of 289 (+1) to move up the leaderboard after shooting an opening 18 of 295 (+7).
Florida tees off the final round tomorrow at 10:02 a.m. paired with the Tigers and Bulldogs.
Archer and Francisco led the lineup with under par rounds in the second round and are 4-under overall. Archer shot a new career-low of 67 (-5) for her first collegiate round in the 60’s and third low round in the last five rounds. A native of Rennes, France, Archer only carded one bogey on her second round, not coming until the 14th hole. Her eight birdies are tied for third-most in the field.
Francisco recorded a round two of 70 (-2) and has shot both rounds of even par or better as behind a first round of 72 (E). On par3s she is averaging 3.00 (E) and for par5s a 4.63 (-3) mark. Over her 36 holes, both Archer and Francisco have made 22 pars and eight birdies
Just a 1-over and tied for 12th is Jackie Lucena. The 5th year senior had a second round of 72 (E) and has made 25 pars and five birdies across her two rounds.
Marina Escobar and Maisie Filler round out the lineup tied for 62nd and 74th.
