UF WBK: Gators Continue Road Tilt at Arkansas Thursday Evening

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Florida women’s basketball will continue its Southeastern Conference road tilt on Thursday evening when they head to Fayetteville, Ark., for a matchup with the Razorbacks at 8 p.m. ET.

The game will be streamed live on SEC Network+ with Brett Dolan and Matt Zimmerman on the call, while Kyle Crooks and Brittany Davis will handle radio responsibilities on 98.1FM/850AM WRUF.

SERIES HISTORY
The Gators and Razorbacks meet for the 43rd time on Thursday, with Florida holding a 30-12 advantage. Last season, UF claimed a nine-point victory, 76-67, in Gainesville.

LAST SEASON’S MEETING
Last season, Florida secured their 20th victory of the season against Arkansas, defeating the Razorbacks in Gainesville, 76-67. The Gators held Arkansas to 1-of-13 shooting from deep after the opposition entered averaging 9.2 threes per game. They also forced Arkansas into 20 turnovers after they averaged just 10.8 entering the February matchup. Kiara Smith led UF with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Zippy Broughton and Emanuely de Oliveira chipped-in 15 points each.

LAST TIME OUT
In a defensive battle, the Gators earned their first SEC win and 800th program win after defeating Texas A&M, 55-48, in College Station. Nina Rickards led the way with 14 points and seven rebounds while Ra Shaya Kyle (12) and Alberte Rimdal (10) also scored in double-figures.

NET UPDATE
After defeating Texas A&M on the road on Jan. 1, Florida shot up to 76th in the NET rankings, their highest ranking of the season, and the Gators currently sit at 77th. All 14 SEC schools sit within the top 135, while South Carolina and LSU hold the top two spots, respectively.

MAKE IT 800
Florida women’s basketball claimed their 800th victory as a program with a 55-48 defeat at Texas A&M on Jan. 1, 2023. When the Gators accomplished the feat, they became 13th SEC to cross the 800-win threshold, with Mississippi State also chasing the accomplishment, owning 775 victories as a program entering the 2022-23 season.

KK’S 1K
Florida senior guard, KK Deans, is closing in on her 1,000th career point. The West Virginia transfer recorded 788 points with the Mountaineers and currently holds 206 points on the season with the Gators, pushing her career total to 994. She would be the second 1,000-point scorer on the roster, as Leilani Correa scored 1,272 points in her three seasons at St. John’s.

Under the leadership of Kelly Rae Finley, Florida’s defense will always be a point of emphasis. Helping to prove that point, the Gators own a perfect 21-0 mark under Finely when holding opponents to 60 points or less.

Florida women’s basketball is elite when it comes to getting to the free throw line, knocking down 15.73 per game which is third in the SEC and 24th in the nation. They average 22.40 attempts per game, sitting at third in the conference and 24th nationally.
