UF WBK: Gators Basketball to Face Ole Miss Thursday Night

Florida will head to Oxford and play Ole Miss on Thursday evening for a 7 p.m. tip-off. The contest will mark the Gators’ sixth conference game of the 2023-24 season.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators will get back on the road after a two-week travel break and head to Oxford, Mississippi for a Thursday night matchup against Ole Miss. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET inside the SJB Pavilion. Florida will be coming off a loss after falling to Mississippi State 89-77 on Monday and Ole Miss will be coming off a road win against Georgia, winning 69-59 on Sunday afternoon. Both teams are searching to tally another win onto their Southeastern Conference records before entering February play.

The current series between Florida and Ole Miss sits at 24-18 with the Gators ahead by six victories. Overall, Florida is 13-6 in Oxford but Ole Miss has won six of the last 10 meetings.

HISTORY:
Florida and Ole Miss have met a recorded 42 times in their respective school histories. The most recent matchup was in February of 2023 in Oxford, with Ole Miss defeating the Gators 68-42. Ole Miss shot 33.3 percent from behind the arc and 43.3 from the field, compared to the Gators’ 24.1 field goal percentage and 36.4 percent from the three.

Florida’s last win over Ole Miss is dated back to Jan. 24, 2021, when the Gators defeated the Rebels 78-68. Kiki Smith led Florida in the road win totaling 25 points to mark the team’s third-straight win over the Rebels.

FLORIDA’S LAST GAME:
Florida’s last time out was a tough loss to Mississippi State, falling 89-77 on the Gators’ home court. Overall, the Gators were led by Leilani Correa with her second consecutive 30-point outing of the season, securing 31 to mark her new career high at Florida. Correa went 11-of-27 from the field and recorded four three-pointers for the Gators. Aliyah Matharu followed with a 16-point performance, going 7-of-19 from the field and putting up two three-pointers for Florida.

ABOUT OLE MISS:
The Rebels are hosting the Gators after a 75-64 road win against Georgia on Sunday in Athens. The Rebels had three players in double digits for scoring on Sunday afternoon, and were led Kennedy Todd-Williams on offense with a season-best performance. Todd-Williams put up 22 points and secured 6 rebounds, holding off Georgia’s Javyn Nicholson and her 14-point effort.

Throughout the season Ole Miss has two players averaging in double figures for scoring: Marquesha Davis (12.5 ppg) and Snudda Collins (10.4 ppg). Marquesha Davis sits at the 24th spot in the SEC for scoring per game. Davis leads the Rebels in scoring this season with Snudda Collins taking the second spot in scoring and leading in three pointers, making this duo a large offensive threat on Thursday night.

On the boards, Ole Miss is led by Madison Scott, averaging 5.9 rebounds a game. In total, Scott has grabbed 101 rebounds this season with 62 being defensive and the other 39 being snagged on offense.
