UF WBK: Florida Signs Eriny Kindred

Kindred brings two seasons of SEC experience to UF

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida women’s basketball added 6-foot forward Eriny Kindred via the transfer portal, head coach Kelly Rae Finley announced on Thursday. Kindred comes to Florida as a junior from Texas A&M.

“We are excited to welcome Eriny to Gator Nation!” Finley said. “Her contagious smile and fun-loving personality off the court, as well as her athleticism, physicality and rebounding on the court will be great additions to our team.”

Kindred started 12 games last season, including 10 in SEC action, totaling 28 appearances in 2022-23. Kindred posted career highs of nine points (1/1/23 vs. Florida) and seven rebounds (1/15/23 vs. MSU) throughout the course of her sophomore campaign.

She is a native of Del Valle, Texas, and garnered high school first-team All-District in addition to District 25-6A Defensive Player of the Year while also averaging 20.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game. She was a multi-sport athlete and still holds the triple and long jump record at Del Valle High School

During her visit to Gator Nation, Kindred felt her interactions with the staff and team were genuine. “My experience with the staff and being on campus was absolutely a joy,” Kindred said. “I had a warm heart being there and I can’t wait to get back on campus.”

In addition to Kindred, the Gators also added McDonald’s All-American Laila Reynolds for 2023-24 during the early signing period. UF will also benefit from the return of Zippy Broughton, who missed 2022-23 due to injury, and will get an added boost from 2022 All-Big 12 transfer Aliyah Matharu, who sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules.
