FAIRFAX, Va. – For the third time in as many outings, Florida women’s basketball is slated to matchup with an Atlantic 10 opponent when they face their second true road test of the season at George Mason.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Bill Rohland handling play-by-play responsibilities while Kyle Crooks and Brittany Davis will handle radio responsibilities on FloridaGators.com.

Florida is currently boasting a five-game winning streak after earning a pair of victories in Puerto Rico at the San Juan Shootout last weekend. After opening with a dominant 69-54 win over Saint Louis on Friday, the Gators defense locked-down George Washington for a 61-50 win on Saturday. Five in-a-row for the Gators is the longest winning-streak since winning six straight from Dec. 2, 2020-Dec. 21, 2020.

Lavender Briggs had her best game of the year against the Colonials, scoring a season-high 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and four assists. Emanuely de Oliveira was also dominant, knocking down a career-best three triples on as many attempts.

With her 18 points, Briggs inched closer to the 1,000-point mark, sitting at 883 points in her career, just 117 away from becoming the 27th member of the club at Florida.

Defensively, Kiara Smith recorded one of the best defensive performances in Florida history against George Washington with eight steals. Not only is that the most by a senior or graduate student in UF history, it’s the third-most by a Gator athlete in school history. Nationally, Smith is 11th in total steals with 22 on the year. Smith’s 170 career steals sit at 15th in Gator history.

On the offensive end, Smith is up to 1,159 points on her career. She currently sits in 22nd, most recently passing Bernice Mosby (2002-05). With three assists in Saturday’s game against George Washington, Smith also now boasts 326 career assists, the 12th-best number in Gators history.

Florida women’s basketball continues to be dominant defensively in the third quarter this season, holding teams to a combined 41-of-131 (31.2%) shooting from the field and 8-of-27 (29.6%) from deep. Take away a stellar shooting performance from Towson and Florida is holding opponents to just 5-of-22 (22.7%) from three-point land in the third period.

Wednesday’s matchup with George Mason, who enters with a 5-3 record and are winners of two-straight, will be the second in series history. The Orange & Blue claimed the only game between the two squads on Nov. 25, 1999 with a 68-51 win.
