ATLANTA – The 14th-ranked Florida women finished the penultimate day of NCAA Championships with three All-America honors and the team currently sits in 11th place with 85 points.

The three honors came from Mabel Zavaros finishing sixth in the 400 IM, Maha Amer placing 12th overall on the 3-meter springboard and Talia Bates finishing 12th in the 200 free.

Zavaros earned the first All-America honor of her career after finishing sixth in the 400 IM Championship final on Friday night with a swim of 4:06.22. Her time of 4:04.43 in the prelims pushed her into fourth place in program history.

Talia Bates earned Honorable Mention All-American status with a swim of 1:44.47 to finish 12th overall and fourth in the consolation final of the 200 free. This is the eighth total honor for Bates and is her third individual All-American honor.

For the second day in a row, Amer garnered All-American accolades – this time earning the distinction of Honorable Mention in the 3-meter consolation final. The redshirt junior posted a score of 339.75 to finish 12th overall and score big points for the Gators on Friday afternoon.

400 medley relay
The Gator quartet of Bates, Tylor Mathieu, Olivia Peoples and Ekaterina Nikonova closed out the night with the 400 medley relay, finishing 21st overall with a time of 3:33.03.

Bates kicked off the relay with a 52.56 split in the backstroke, followed by a 1:00.14 split in the breaststroke by Tylor Mathieu. Peoples swam a 52.58 100 fly split, while Nikonova anchored with the freestyle leg, finishing with a swim of 47.75.

400 IM prelim
In the prelim session of the 400 IM, Zavaros led the way, going a personal-best time of 4:04.43 to earn her spot in the Championship final.

Kathleen Golding followed with a swim of 4:12.10, good for 29th overall in the event. Anna Auld and Amanda Ray finished 40th and 44th, respectively, with times of 4:15.09 and 4:16.46.

200 free prelim
Bates swam her way into the consolation final after 1:44.74 in the prelim session, putting her 14th overall. Ekaterina Nikonova finished just behind Bates, touching the wall in 17th place with a time of 1:45.05, while Mathieu rounded out the Gators with a time of 1:46.16, good for 34th place.

3-meter diving prelim
Amer earned her spot in the consolation final after finishing 13th in the preliminary session with a score of 325.60. Carina Lumia also competed in the event for Florida, placing 51st with a total of 217.50 points.

Saturday – the final day of competition – will feature 11 Gators in action, including five in the 1650 free.
