Monserez tabbed as Setter of the Week, McKissock named Defensive Player of the Week
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After leading Florida to a perfect 3-0 week, two Gators earned SEC Weekly honors, as the conference announced Monday.
Marlie Monserez was tabbed as SEC Setter of the Week for the fifth time this season, while Elli McKissock was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year.
Over the course of the three matches, Monserez averaged 13.44 assists per set, 3.00 digs per set, 2.17 points per set and 1.56 kills per set, all while leading the Gators to a .364 clip.
Against Auburn, the senior dished out 39 assists and tallied 10 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. She also added three kills and one ace in the three-set victory.
In the first South Carolina match, Monserez posted 40 assists and led the team to a .454 hitting percentage – the second-highest clip of the year. The Windermere, Fla. native also recorded seven kills on eight swings (.875), eight digs and three blocks in the win.
In the final match of the week, Monserez averaged 14.00 assists per set, tallying 42 on the afternoon. She added nine digs – just one off her 10th double-double of the year – as well as four kills, three blocks and one service ace.
McKissock had a stellar week in the backcourt for Florida, averaging 5.22 digs per set, 1.44 assists per set and 0.44 aces per set.
In the sweep over Auburn, the sophomore libero tallied a team-high 17 digs, to go along with seven assists and one ace.
Against South Carolina on Saturday, the Windermere, Fla. native recorded 12 digs in addition to her five assists and game-high two service aces.
In the final match of the week, McKissock went on a six-point service run to bring the Gators from behind in the third set against South Carolina. She served Florida from down 19-18 to match point at 24-19. The sophomore posted a team-high 18 digs in the match, as well as one assist and one ace to secure the victory.
