Brings total to nine volleyball players earning academic honors during the 2020-21 campaign
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Nnedi Okammor was named to the SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll as the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday. That brings the Gator volleyball program’s total number of academic accolades to nine for the 2020-21 academic year.

Today’s announcement brings Florida’s total of student-athletes named to a 2020-21 SEC Academic Honor Roll to a program-record 378, which is 70 percent of UF’s student-athletes. Florida placed 301 on SEC Academic Honor Rolls (107 on fall list; 62 winter, 132 on spring) and 77 on the First-Year Honor Roll.
On the court, the Gators finished 21-4 overall and 19-3 in the SEC en route to the program’s 17th Regional Final appearance. Five players earned AVCA All-America honors and five were tabbed to either the All-SEC Team or SEC All-Freshman Team.
To be recognized for the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must meet the following criteria: 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
