Skylar Lopas served as the Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Gators for three seasons

Lopas served on Florida’s staff for the last three seasons, helping the Gators secure three NCAA Regional Semifinal bids in the process. He will begin his tenure with the Saints on May 2.

Lopas joined the Florida coaching staff in 2019. In his three seasons on the Gators staff, the team posted a 70-18 record. Florida made three NCAA Division I National Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight (2020) and two Sweet 16 berths. He was responsible for middle blocker development and positional development. Lopas coached middle blockers Lauren Forte and Rachael Kramer to AVCA All-America honors and another middle blocker, Bre Kelly, to a Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team accolade this past fall. Forte was amongst most efficient hitters in not only the SEC, but in the nation, with percentages of .400 or better. Lauren Dooley – another middle under Lopas’ tutelage – led the SEC in blocks per set (1.40) in 2020.
