The former Gators are two of 11 players on the squad heading for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Former Gators Rachael Kramer and Alex Holston are set to compete at the Pan Am Cup with the U.S. National Team beginning Monday evening in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Kramer, a middle blocker from Phoenix, Ariz., competed with the National Team at the NORCECA Continental Championship, where she was named NORCECA Best Blocker. While with the Gators, Kramer earned two AVCA All-America nods and was named All-SEC four times.
Holston, an Olney, Md. native, will play outside for the National Team throughout the Cup. While at Florida, Holston was a four-time AVCA All-American right side and earned SEC Player of the Year honors in 2014.
The U.S. women will play Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Puerto Rico in a five-day round robin that begins Monday. The top four teams advance to the semifinals on Saturday and the finals are slated for Sunday.
The team will be led by U.S. Head Coach Karch Kiraly, as well as assistants Erin Virtue and Tama Miyashiro.
“We are excited to see what this young group of Americans can do at the 2021 Pan American Cup,” Kiraly said. “Some of them are very young without much experience. It will be a learning and developing opportunity for them.”
The U.S. women have won the last three Pan American Cups (2017-19) and have the most wins overall with seven.
