Eysha Ambler comes to the Gators from TCU
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Volleyball Head Coach Mary Wise announced Wednesday the hiring of Eysha Ambler as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Gators.
“We have worked to surround our players with hardworking, talented and passionate professionals,” said head coach Mary Wise. “Eysha fits this bill completely. We are thrilled to have her join the Gator Volleyball family.”
Ambler arrives in Gainesville with 19 years of coaching experience, including nine seasons at fellow SEC school Auburn.
“The University of Florida is a special place with a strong volleyball tradition,” said Ambler. “So, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join Coach Wise and the Gator family. I am proud to be a part of a program with such a rich history of success, not only in the SEC, but on a national level.”
The Ozark, Ala. native spent the 2020-21 season in the Big-12 with the TCU Horned Frogs, where she helped guide two athletes to Big-12 postseason honors.

Ambler Coaching History
Ambler spent the 2020-21 season in Fort Worth, Texas, serving as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for TCU. She tutored two players to All-Big 12 Second Team honors during the 2020-21 season.
Ambler spent nine seasons at fellow SEC school Auburn, where she served as both the assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator. While with the Tigers, she recruited the seventh-ranked recruiting class in the nation in 2018, the highest ranked class in program history.
She also helped recruit and coach Jesse Earl, the first AVCA All-American in program history.
Prior to making her way to Auburn, Ambler spent the previous two years as an assistant at the University of Pittsburgh.
While at Pittsburgh, Ambler primarily worked with the Panthers’ middle blockers. During her first season with the team, Pitt ranked 38th in the country in hitting percentage with a .247 mark. Ambler also mentored middle hitter Meagan Dooley, who became the program’s third AVCA All-American.
Ambler also organized team travel, summer camps, managed the budget and monitored the academics and eligibility of the squad while at Pitt.
Prior to Pitt, Ambler spent five years at Tennessee State, where she helped lead the Lady Tigers to a pair of OVC titles and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance.
During her time at TSU, she also served as recruiting coordinator and volleyball operations director. She was instrumental in aiding the students with their academic progress and helping them develop quality tutorial programs, while organizing and balancing the volleyball program’s budget.
Prior to TSU, she spent two seasons at Jacksonville State as a graduate assistant. At JSU, she monitored the academic progress of student-athletes, organized travel and film exchange and managed home tournament and match activities for the volleyball team.
Ambler played two years on the Jacksonville State volleyball squad after transferring from Northwest-Shoals Community College. At JSU, she made her mark in the history books as the all-time single-season leader for blocks per game (1.7). She finished her career ranked fourth (92) and seventh (72) in block assists in a single season and third in solo blocks (31) in a single season.
Ambler was the first three-sport letterman at Jacksonville State daring back to 1985, earning letters in basketball, track and field and volleyball. She graduated from JSU in 2001 with a B.S. in business management and later earned a B.S. in education in 2004.
She worked as the head coach at the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Club from 2009-11 and the Nashville One Volleyball Club from 2008-09, while also serving as an assistant with the Impact Volleyball Club (2008).
