UF TF: Jasmine Moore and Parker Valby Win Gold on the Final Day of the NCAA Championship

Jasmine Moore won gold, Parker Valby won gold, and Alida van Daalen won bronze on the last day of the NCAA Outdoor Championship

AUSTIN, Texas – On the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championship the Gators earned two individual titles and a bronze medal, finishing runner up in the team competition with 51 points to Texas.

The first medal of day came in the triple jump competition when Jasmine Moore broke the third collegiate record of her career. Her mark of 14.78m/48’6″ is a new outdoor triple jump record is the second-best jump in world this year. Moore now holds the collegiate record in the indoor long and triple jump and the outdoor triple jump. As a Gator, Moore has won seven of the last eight horizontal titles at SEC and NCAA meets and four straight triple jump titles.

The second medal of the day was a bronze finish by Alida van Daalen in the discus (59.96m/196’9″). Van Daalen threw a personal best, the seventh best mark in the country this year, and extended her school record in the discus. This was the first medal of van Daalen’s career at an NCAA Championship.

The final medal of the day came in the last race for the Gators. Parker Valby (15:30.57) beat runner up Everlyn Kemboi of Utah Valley by 9 seconds in the 5000m. Valby’s time is a new personal best, facility record, and extends her school record in the 5000m.

Triple Jump

Women- On her second jump of the day, Jasmine Moore’s mark of (14.78m/48’6″) broke the collegiate, school, meet, and facility record. This mark ended up as the best in the competition, earning Moore the individual triple jump national title. Her jump was the second farthest in the world this year. Moore has medaled at every SEC and NCAA horizontal jump competition as a Gator and has won gold in every triple jump competition. She has won seven of the last eight horizontal titles at SEC and NCAA meets.

High Jump

Women- Claire Bryant finished twenty-third in the high jump (1.78m/5’10”).

Discus

Women- Freshman Alida van Daalen earned her first career NCAA medal in the discus competition. Van Daalen secured bronze with a mark of 59.96m/196’9″, a new personal best and the seventh best mark in the country this year.

100m Hurdles

Women- Grace Stark finishes fifth with a season best time of 12.72 in the 100m hurdles.

200m

Women- In the 200m competition, Talitha Diggs finished seventh (22.45).

400m

Women- Talitha Diggs earned fifth in the women’s 400m competition with a time of 50.93.

5000m

Women- A year after finishing runner-up in the 5000m, Parker Valby won gold in the event. Her time of 15:30.57 was a new personal best and improved her school record time in the event. Valby’s time was also a facility record and the ninth fastest time in the country this year.
