The Gators will travel to the East Coast Relays and LSU Invitational for the final regular season meets of 2023
BATON ROUGE, La./JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – This week the Florida Gators Track and Field team will split up and travel to both Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the LSU Invitational and Jacksonville, Florida for the East Coast Relays.
Florida will travel 37 athletes to Baton Rouge to compete against eight other teams. On the men’s side, five of the teams, including Florida, are ranked in the top-6 of the latest national rankings while in the women’s competition three teams are ranked in the top-6.
Twenty-three Gators will head north to Jacksonville to face off against athletes from 91 other teams.
At the Virginia Challenge last week, Florida recorded six top-15 finishes. Senior Kathryn Nohilly finished second in the women’s steeplechase invite with a time of 10:18.15, moving her into third on the all-time women’s steeplechase top-10, the same spot that her father Tom Nohilly holds on the men’s all-time steeplechase list. Lucinda Rourke finished fifth in the 1500m invite (4:17.92).
So far in the 2023 outdoor season, the Gators have recorded 63 new outdoor or overall personal bests. Forty-seven of these career performances have come on the track, and fourteen were in the field.
LSU INVITATIONAL MEET INFORMATION (all times Eastern)
All 37 Gators will compete on Saturday at the LSU Invitational. Florida will participate in 25 events during their time in Baton Rouge. The first event is the women’s hammer throw featuring Imani Washington at 11:30 a.m. The first running event begins at 3:35 p.m. with the men’s 4×100.
