UF T&F: Charlton Makes History on Day One of Razorback Invitational

Gators post multiple personal and season bests, as two events see new additions to Florida’s program Top-10 lists.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Florida Gators Track and Field saw multiple record setting performances on the opening day of the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The night’s headliner was Junior Anthaya Charlton, whose season-opening jump of 6.98m marked a new NCAA All-time No. 2, UF program No. 2, and Bahamian national record.

The mark fell just short of Gator Great Jasmine Moore’s 7.03 collegiate record leap, set at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships. Moore is the only collegian in history to eclipse 7 meters.

Highlights
Throws
Johnathan Witte and Jacob Lemmon, who each secured the No. 3 and No. 6 Weight Throw marks in program history two weeks ago at the Corky Classic, made marginal improvements and tallied new season bests.

Imani Washington made her junior season debut, collecting a new personal best of 19.02m with her third attempt in the Weight Throw.

Jumps
Aside from Charlton’s extraordinary efforts, Alyssa Banales recorded a new personal record of 6.40m in the Long Jump, the second-best leap by a freshman in NCAA this season. Sophomore Kendall Brown improved on her season best to the tune of 5.94m.

Malcolm Clemons improved on his season best, posting a 7.80, the No. 8 mark in the collegiate ranks in 2025.

Sprints
Wanya McCoy continued his outlandish start to the 2025 campaign by taking the collegiate lead in the 200m with an outstanding 20.45 time. His collegiate-leading pace is a full tenth of a second ahead of No. 2, which is the same gap as between No. 2 and No. 6 on the collegiate leaderboard.

The 2024 SEC Indoor 200m champion, McCoy adds the impressive mark to a season resume that already includes the No. 4 60m time and the No. 1 4x400m times in the nation.

Malique Smith-Band, Nicholas Spikes, and Jaden Wiley each won their respective 200m heats.

DMR
Florida’s women’s DMR showing posted the No. 2 time in program history, 10:52.08, falling a mere .02 seconds short of the program record.

The impressive showing was headlined by Hilda Olemomoi’s outstanding 4:30.32 1600m achor leg, managing to close a nearly 7-second gap over the course of the first few hundred meters of her leg.

Up Next
The Razorback Invitational will continue tomorrow, February 1 at noon EST.
