UF T&F: Abraham Sargent Lands on Florida All-Time Top 10 List, Gators Tally Eleven Personal Records

Sargent finished in first place in the Men’s Javelin Throw and is now No. 5 in Florida history in the event.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gators Track & Field finished competition at the FSU Relays with twelve top three finishes and fifteen personal records. Eleven of said personal records came on Friday’s action and featured a variety of athletes across several different events. Below is a summary of the Gator’s performances from Friday.

ALTERING THE RECORD BOOKS
Abraham Sargent, making his Gator debut, recorded the No. 5 mark on Florida’s All-Time Top 10 Javelin Throw list with a toss of 72.46m/237’9”. This also stands as a personal record for Sargent and is currently the No. 6 mark in the NCAA in 2024. All 5 of Sargent’s successful throws exceeded his previous personal record which was set at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in 2023.

LET’S GET PERSONAL
The Gators totaled eleven personal records on Friday’s competition.

Melanie Welsing was the first to notch a personal best as her mark of 30.72m/100’9” in the javelin throw exceeded her previous best mark by 0.65m. She also recorded a second throw over thirty meters which landed at 30.27m.

Joey Stravato secured a personal record in the men’s 110m hurdles. His time of 14.47 exceeded his previous best by 0.32 seconds.

Da’Moni Kelly and Gracelyn Leiseth each tallied a personal record in the women’s discus throw. Their best marks of 49.97 and 49.32 placed them fourth and sixth in the event.

India Alix set an outdoor personal best in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 11.99m/39’4”. Her distance placed her third in the event.

Calvin Bostic and Logan Montgomery continued the discus success with personal records of their own. Bostic finished in first place with a toss of 51.90m/170’3” while Montgomery placed third with his best throw landing at 50.18m/164’7”.

Three Gators earned personal records in the 1500m. In the women’s sections Liina Winborn and Caroline Bauer finished in fourth and fifth with new career best times of 4:32.35 and 4:35.58, respectively. Orlando Cicilioni followed that up in with a PR of his own in the men’s section as he crossed the finish line in 4:10.15.
