UF S&D: Watson, Fullum-Huot Earn SEC Weekly Awards

Tyler Watson named Men’s Swimmer of the Week; Edouard Fullum-Huot tabbed Men’s Freshman of the Week

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 3/7 Florida men’s and women’s swimming and diving team added two more weekly conference honors, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Tyler Watson was named SEC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while Edouard Fullum-Huot earned SEC Men’s Freshman of the Week following impressive performances at last week’s Auburn Invitational.

Watson swam the sixth-fastest time 1650 free in the country this season last Saturday at 14:48.34, over ten seconds ahead of the rest of the field. The Jacksonville, Fla. native is the fourth Gator to win Men’s Swimmer of the Week (Joshua Liendo – 9/27/22, Alfonso Mestre – 11/8/22, Julian Smith – 1/17/23).

A product of Montreal, Canada, Fullum-Huot took first in both the 50 free and 100 free at the Auburn Invitational. The freshman posted the 31st fastest 50 free time in the nation this year at 19.46, and the 91st fastest 100 free time in the country at 42.49, earning B-cuts in both. Fullum-Huot is the xx freshman to achieve Freshman of the Week honors this season (Liendo – 10/25/22, 11/8/22, Aleksas Savickas – 11/1/22, Cameron Abaqueta – 1/17/23).

Florida heads to College Station, Texas next week to compete in the SEC Championships from Feb. 14-18. The men’s team is looking for its 11th-straight SEC title, while the women have finished second three of the past four seasons.
