UF S&D: Three Gators Secure SEC Weekly Honors

Adam Chaney, Isabel Ivey and Ana Monroy claim SEC accolades.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After the successful performances from No. 2/3 swimming and diving programs last week at the Tennessee Diving invitational and at the swim-dual meet vs. South Carolina, Adam Chaney, Isabel Ivey and Ana Monroy received SEC weekly awards as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.

Adam Chaney earned his first SEC award of the season after racking up three first-place finishes in No. 2 Gator men’s 164-93 win against South Carolina on Friday. The Mason, Ohio native celebrated Senior Day with a win in the 50 free (20.42), about a second off his season-best 19.44 that ranks 33rd in the NCAA this season. Chaney swam a 45.07 split in the 400 freestyle relay for first-place and clocked a 47.68 as the Lead off in the 400 medley relay team that finished first.

On the women’s side, Isabel Ivey celebrated her Senior Day with two individual wins to lead the No. 3 Gator women to a 175-82 win over the Gamecocks. She posted a 1:01.66 in the100-yard breaststroke and finished the 100 fly with a b-cut time of 52.58, while also contributing to the 400 medley relay (3:37.68) victory. This marks Ivey’s second SEC Weekly award this season.

Ana Monroy earned Diver of the Week after she finished first in two of her three events at the Tennessee Diving Invitational. The freshman, who holds the best NCAA platform score of 312.80, recorded the highest women platform score at the Invitational (307.70). Following six successful dives on the 3-meter, Monroy scored 313.80 for her tenth, first-place finish of the season. She was also part of the women’s A team event that earned first with a combined score of 329.70. This marks her fourth SEC Weekly award of her career.

The Gators have two weeks off before traveling to Ocala, Fla on Friday, Jan. 26 for a dual meet against in-state foe, Florida State. Action begins at noon ET, while Diving remains at home against Florida State. The senior divers will be celebrating prior to first dive.
