GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida women divers Carina Lumia and Camyla Monroy both secured a place on the NCAA Championship roster after qualifying in the 1-meter springboard on Sunday afternoon to wrap up day one of the Zone B Championships in Athens, Ga.

Freshman Camyla Monroy continues her remarkable rookie season with another top-three finish. She advanced to the finals sessions after scoring 342.20 in the prelims for fifth. Lumia improved from her 22nd place finish last year in the event and will make her first 1-meter appearance at NCAA’s. She qualified in the 3-meter her freshman year and finished 51st after registering a score of 217.50.

Hear from Head Diving Coach Bryan Gillooly
“Great start for us today. Carina was solid the whole way through and Camyla really showed what she was made of after a couple mistakes early in the meet. Her poise under pressure in her first zone meet was remarkable. Two for two in the first event gives us a lot of momentum moving forward. I’m excited to see what the rest of the meet has in store for us.”

Zone B Championships will continue tomorrow, starting at 11 a.m. with the men’s 1-meter prelims, followed by the finals at 1:15 p.m. The women head over to the 3-meter springboard for prelims at 3:15 p.m. before wrapping up the second day at 5:55 p.m. with the 3-meter finals. All sessions can be followed on DiveMeets.<https://secure.meetcontrol.com/divemeets/system/meetinfoext.php?meetnum=9886>
