INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Individual events began on Day two of the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships and the Gators continue to make headlines. Florida brought home two National Titles while setting six All-Time bests in Florida’s Record book.

Josh Liendo collected his first individual title of the meet, touching the wall in just 18.07. He becomes the second Gator to win the event, after Caleb Dressel’s four-straight title run from 2015-18. Liendo’s time marks the second-best in Gator history, following Dressel’s 17.63. Liendo finished just 0.02 seconds ahead of reigning champion Jordan Crooks of Tennessee.

Back-to-back NCAA Champions, the 200 Free Relay Team of Josh Liendo (18.25), Adam Chaney (18.29), Julian Smith (18.51), Macguire McDuff (18.44) brought home Florida’s third-consecutive title after putting together a 1:13.49. The time becomes the new pool record for IU’s Natatorium and comes close to the NCAA, Meet and program record of 1:13.35 that Liendo, Chaney, Eric Friese and McDuff set at last year’s NCAA Championships.

Jake Mitchell and Giovanni Linscheer represented Florida in the 500 Free and went one-two in the consolation final. Jake swam a personal best of 4:10.48 to earn first place in his heat and ninth overall. The senior’s time ties for fourth best in Gator history. Linscheer followed suit, swimming a personal best of 4:11.84 to go second and 10th in the nation. The sophomore marks his name in the eighth-best spot in Florida’s Top-10 times.

Chaney and Ed Fullum-Huot also scored for Florida in the 50 free, adding six points to Liendo’s 20. Fullum Huot’s 19.07 was just 0.03 off his personal best time (19.04), which he set in morning prelims to record the eighth-best time in Florida’s top-10. The sophomore finished 13th overall and fifth in the Consolation Final. His Fellow Gator, Adam Chaney, went 19.15 in the heat to place 15th overall and seventh in Consolation.

Diving

Diving competition began today, with three Gators taking part in the 1-Meter. Peyton Donald scored back-to-back 63.00’s to move up on the scoreboard and took the final advancing spot at 16th. The sophomore kept his momentum in the Consolation Final, scoring above 50.00 in all six dives to earn 14th to improve from his 40th placement at last year’s NCAA Championships. He and his brother Skip Donald are set to take part in the 3-meter tomorrow.
