Julia Heimstead and Katelyn Schroeder will join the program this fall.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida women’s team added Julia Heimstead and Katelyn Schroeder to their 2024-25 roster, the program announced Thursday.

Heimstead comes to Gainesville for her fifth year after competing at the University of Arizona. She was named Pac-12 Women’s Co Swimmer of the Month during November, marking her second Swimmer of the Month award of her career.

Originally from Bloomington, Ill., she competes in the butterfly as well as freestyle events and was a pivotal member in relays for the Wildcats. She ranks No. 27 in the Nation in the 100 fly with a 51.61 time and her 1:54.57 ranks No. 22 in the 200 fly. At Pac-12 Championships in March, Julia placed sixth in the 200 fly and eighth in the 100 fly, while swimming a 23.11 split in the 200 medley relay to help Arizona place third. She competed in the 50 free, 100 fly and 200 fly at this year’s 2024 NCAA Championships, and finished 22nd in the Nation in the 200 fly with a 1:55.44 time. She earned 35th in the 100 fly after finishing in 52.08 and recorded a 22.52 in her 50 free.

Joining her will be incoming freshman Katelyn Schroder. A member of the Langely Olympians Swim Club, Schroder ranked 3rd for 100-meter backstroke and 5th for 200-meter backstroke in the Junior Rankings of Canada. She tied for gold at the 2023 Speedo Canadian Swimming Championships last August as well as competed with Team Canada at the Jr. Pan Pacific Championships in 2023.

Schroeder will join fellow Canadian Gators Lilly Daley, Eric Brown Josh Liendo and Ed Fullum-Huot.
