UF S&D: Gators Finish Opening Day of Zones

Garcia narrowly misses qualifying for NCAA Championships in 1-meter

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Florida men’s diving team began their championship quest today during the opening day of the 2023 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.

For the second-consecutive season, Garcia finished eighth in the 1-meter at zones, posting a score of 686.45. Garcia was in third after the prelims, but slipped during the evening session. The top seven finishes qualified for the NCAA Men’s Championship.

Skip Donald also competed in the finals’ session, moving up from 14th to 11th during the finals, finishing with a score of 660.90. The scores from the prelims and finals are combined.

Anton Svirskyi finished 26th with a 282.79, while Elisha Dees, in his first Zone competition of his career, scored a 280.35 and finished 27th.

Zone B will continue tomorrow, starting at 11 a.m. with the women’s 1-meter prelims, followed by the finals at 2 p.m. The men head over to the 3-meter springboard for prelims at 4 p.m. before wrapping up the second day at 6:15 p.m. with the 3-meter finals. All sessions will be streamed on SECN+.
