Florida Sweeps 200 Free Relay; Gesing Goes Gold in 3-Meter Dive
The Gators tally five gold medals on day three of the 2024 SEC Championships.

AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 4/3 Gators remained undefeated in relay events after both the men’s and women’s 200 yard freestyle relay A Teams swept the event, with the men posting a 1:14.81 and the women going 1:26.51 on Wednesday night inside the James E. Martin Aquatic Center.
Florida set 19 season-bests, 13 program Top-10 times, two school records and two pool records to earn five gold, three silver and two bronze medals on day three.
Women’s Performance Notes

  *   The 200 yard free relay A Team of Bella Sims, Isabel Ivey, Olivia Peoples and Micayla Cronk’s combined A-cut time of 1:26.51 set a new school record.
  *   Emma Weyant claimed her first 500 yard freestyle title after cruising to a 4:34.25 for the third-fastest time in program history, while setting the pool record.
  *   Florida went back-to-back in the 200 yard IM, as Bella Sims posted the winning time of 1:51.86 to earn gold in her 200 IM debut and claim the fastest time in program history. Gator teammate Isabel Ivey finished right behind in 1:52.50 to claim the second-fastest time in Florida history. The women had a total of eight swimmers make either the championship, B or C Final in the event.
  *   Representing Florida in the 50 yard free event, Micayla Cronk’s 21.85 was good for silver as the sophomore also recorded a career high and the second-fastest time in Gator history.
Men’s Performance Notes

  *   The relay A Team of Josh Liendo, Adam Chaney, Julian Smith and Edouard Fullum-Huot won Florida’s fourth-consecutive 200 yard free relay title, setting a new pool record and the program’s fourth-fastest time.
  *   Jake Mitchell claimed second his first individual top-three finish after going 4:11.28 in the 500 yard free. The senior posted the sixth-best time in program history.
  *   Joaquin Gonzalez Pinero had himself a day in the 200 yard IM, as he secured bronze after touching the wall in 1:42.57. The sophomore’s prelim time of 1:42.55 marks the ninth-fastest time in program history.
  *   Josh Liendo closed out the swimming portion of the night for the Gators, posting a 18.83 in the in the 50 yard free to take home bronze.
Diving
For the first time since 1985, Gator diver Conor Gesing earned his first SEC gold medal after scoring a career-high 425.75 on the 3-Meter. The freshman is two-for-two in podium finishes, having earned bronze in the 1-Meter on Monday.
Brother duo Peyton Donald and Skip Donald advanced to the Men’s 3-Meter B Final after finishing in the top 16 of prelims. Peyton Donald claimed the top slot with his 399.60 and Skip finished with a 303.30.
