UF S&D: 11 Gators Selected to 2022-23 U.S. National Team

Six current Gators, four former Gators, and volunteer coach Katie Ledecky earn national nod

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – 11 total Gators were selected to the 2022-23 U.S. National Team, USA Swimming announced Wednesday.

Anna Auld, Emma Weyant, Natalie Hinds, and Katie Ledecky were selected on the women’s side, while Brennan Gravley, Jake Mitchell, Trey Freeman, Kevin Vargas, Caeleb Dressel, Bobby Finke, and Kieran Smith were named on the men’s roster. Florida has 11 athletes on the team, tied with Texas/Longhorn Aquatics for most-represented club/college.

The roster is comprised of 99 athletes, with over 20 universities represented. The team consists of 36 Olympians, seven of them being Gators.

“This year’s National Team roster features a good mix of veteran presence and emerging talent,” USA Swimming National Team Managing Director Lindsay Mintenko said. “This roster showcases the strength of both our club and college systems. These athletes had strong showings nationally and internationally this past year, and we look forward to seeing them compete as we look to next year and ultimately the 2024 Paris Olympics.”

The U.S. National Team is comprised of the six (6) athletes with the fastest times in each Individual Olympic Event, from the combined results of a USA Swimming sanctioned competition, a FINA approved competition, or an international competition between January 1, 2022 through August 31, 2022. Auld and Gravley were both selected as open water athletes back in May 2022, and are active through October 31, 2022.
