Walton Selected to U.S. Women’s National Team Coaching Staff
Head Coach Tim Walton is set to continue his duties as an assistant softball coach on the U.S. Women’s National Team.
FULLERTON, Calif. – Florida softball head coach Tim Walton was announced as a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) coaching staff for the upcoming 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women’s World Cup by USA Softball this afternoon.
Walton rejoins the staff led by Heather Tarr (Washington – Head Coach), who is entering her third year as the head coach for USA Softball, and fellow assistant coaches Jimmy Kolaitis (Arizona State – Assistant Coach) and Kyla Hoyas (JWNT – Head Coach) that were named to the USA WNT coaching staff.
Walton has served as an assistant coach with the U.S. WNT during the 2022 and 2023 international seasons. Alongside coach Tarr, the duo led the Red, White and Blue to a World Championship at 2022 World Games and they also helped the WNT qualify for the 2024 WBSC World Cup Finals in Italy this summer after leading the team to a first-place finish in Group A qualifier held in Ireland during the summer of 2023.
Most recently, Walton and Team USA won a Gold Medal at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
The WBSC Women’s World Cup is set to begin July 15 and will run through July 21, in Castions di Strada, Italy. USA Softball will look to claim its 13th World Championship. The player roster representing USA Softball will be selected at a later date.
