Florida enters the weekend with a 16-1 record and has one of the nation’s top offenses.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The fourth-ranked Florida softball team is preparing to host the Bubly Invitational this weekend as the program welcomes Georgia State, Coastal Carolina and Tennessee State to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium this Friday through Sunday.
The Gators (16-1) enter the weekend after a midweek defeat, 5-4, to Southern Miss (12-5), but look to bounce back against the Panthers (5-8), the Chanticleers (7-6) and the Tigers (6-7) at home this weekend. UF holds an overall record of 8-0 against this year’s tournament field.
Through 17 games this season the Gators rank second nationally in hits (165), runs scored (131) and stolen bases (45). Leading the way at the plate is UF freshman outfielder Kendra Falby. The Odessa, Fla. native leads the nation in hits (29) and stolen bases (16) and also ranks second in runs scored (23).
Additionally, senior Charla Echols has exploded at the plate over the last 13 games. The Newnan, Ga. native ranks second nationally in RBI with 24, which is just two behind the national leader Erin Coffel of Kentucky.
After the conclusion of the Bubly Invitational the Gators gear up for the 2022 SEC Opening Weekend series against Mississippi State. The three-game series is set for Saturday at 12 p.m., Sunday at 4 p.m. and Monday at 7 p.m. with all games broadcast on SEC Network.
