Florida has produced at least four all-region selections in 13 out of the last 14 times awards have been given.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Thursday afternoon four members of the Florida softball team were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Southeast Region Teams.
Hannah Adams, Skylar Wallace, Kendra Falby and Elizabeth Hightower each earned spots on the coveted teams this season. The trio of Adams, Wallace and Falby were selected as first team members, while Hightower secured a third team selection.
For the second time of her career Adams was named a first team selection. However, it’s the first time for both Wallace and Falby to be named first team selections. Wallace was awarded NFCA All-South Region Third Team honors her freshman year at Alabama and this is the first opportunity for Falby to make the list.
Falby is also the first Florida freshman to receive NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team honors since Amanda Lorenz in 2016.
In addition, Hightower’s accolade today is the second overall NFCA All-Southeast Region honor as she was a first team member in 2021.
Skylar Wallace – First Team – DP or Utility/Non-Pitcher
* 2022 NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team
* 2022 All-SEC First Team
* 2022 USA Softball Division I Collegiate Player of the Year Top 25 Finalist
* Ranks Nationally: on base percentage (.548 – 11th), runs (68 – 2nd), stolen bases (47 – 4th), triples (5 – 19th), walks per game (0.78 – 15th).
* Only player in the nation with at-least 68 runs scored, 59 hits and 47 stolen bases.
* Has played in 32 games at shortstop, 19 games at first base and 15 games at second base and has turned 12 double plays this season so far.
* Reached base safely in 53 of the 59 games played so far this season.
Hannah Adams – First Team – Second Base
* 2022 NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team
* 2022 SEC All-Tournament Team
* 2022 All-SEC Defensive Team
* Scored a season-high three runs in the comeback win over No. 5/4 Alabama and contributed her 13th multi-hit game in the victory.
* Has produced 14 multi-hit games so far this season and five multi-RBI games.
* Has turned 12 double plays on the season.
* Sports a 1.000 fielding percentage with 64 putouts and 79 assists.
* For the second time in her career, Adams recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage at second base during SEC play.
Kendra Falby – First Team – Outfield
* 2022 NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team
* 2022 SEC All-Tournament Team
* 2022 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year Top 25
* 2022 SEC Freshman of the Week (2/21 & 2/28)
* Went on a 15-game hitting streak (Feb. 19 – March 13, 2022) putting her tied for sixth longest streak all-time in Florida history and the longest by a freshman.
* Has six total outfield assists on the season and has turned two double plays.
Elizabeth Hightower – Third Team – Pitcher
* 2022 Senior CLASS Award Top 10 Finalist
* Has thrown five complete-game shutouts on the season and two in Southeastern Conference play. She’s only one of two pitchers in the SEC to throw multiple complete-game shutouts in SEC play.
* Tossed her first complete-game shutout of the season to win the series against Mississippi State to open SEC play.
